The NBA Playoffs began Saturday with the defending World Champion Boston Celtics playing the Chicago Bulls. The only time that the Celtics won back to back Championships was when Bill Russell was on the team. Larry Bird's Celtics won three Championships, but never won two in a row. It is not likely the Celtics will repeat this year as it appears Kevin Garnett is finished for the year.
The ZIG/ZAG theory went 22-13-1 ATS in the first round of the Playoffs last year and it is 374-288-10 ATS the last 12 years. For those of you don't know what the ZIG/ZAG Theory is, here's how it works: Play Against the ATS Winner of Game One of a first round series and follow that formula all the way through the first round. In essence, you are just going opposite of what the ATS result in the previous game.
With the Garnett injury it appears the Cleveland and LeBron are heading on a collision course to meet the Lakers and Kobe in the NBA Finals. If Orlando didn't lose point guard Jameer Nelson, they would have been a contender. The injury to the Spurs Manu Ginobili and Tim Duncan's bad knees figure to keep the Spurs out of the mix. Portland is a young and talented team but lack any real playoff experience.
