Sports Handicapping is a serious endeavor without a doubt. However, if a handicapper does not occasionally vent about the “unexplainable” that can sometimes happen in game, they could eventually pay for it. This article is my attempt at pleading to the MLB gods about the “why oh why” that sometimes effects our daily summer life as a baseball capper and/or sports bettor.

See my quick “journal excerpt” below as we share in the “moment of frustration” that handicapping can sometimes bring.

Putting your own thoughts into words when you encounter a situation similar to this could help you down the road. That is the intent of this article. Always remember to take the good with the bad. You’ll be better off in the long run by doing that!

I had three plays today, my first two plays (both regulars) were the two highest-scoring games on the board, had over in Toronto (19 runs) and over in Philly (20 runs)

Now, how about that top play? Check this out: I have the over in Arizona, through the first three innings there has not been a single 1-2-3 inning smf there have been guys on base throughout this game but not a single run yet!

Why? Read on please:

Top 1st: lead off double, guy gets stranded at third
Bot 1st: lead off single, then with one out, he's eliminated on a ground ball double play on a 3-0 pitch, are you kidding me? Guy grounds into an inning-ending double play on a 3-0 pitch!
Top 2nd: 1st and 2nd and 2 outs, then it's a base hit but the lead runner gets thrown out at the plate!
Bot 2nd: lead off double (again) but now the guy gets caught in a rundown between 2nd and 3rd to run themselves right out of the scoring threat
Top 3rd: lead off walk, eventually eliminated by a double play grounder (again)
Bot 3rd: with one out it's another big double but the guy is thrown out trying to stretch his double into a triple

That is how a game is scoreless when it has no business being scoreless. I could soon be in need of some serious medication! Will things be better later in this game? I sure hope so! p.s. top 4th update: a one out double but, again, the guy gets stranded at 3rd base, now scoreless heading to bottom of the fourth…ugh….the agony…let’s turn this around please
