NFL Preseason Betting Tips
by Sam Martin

There are many regular season football bettors who prefer not to wager on NFL Preseason games. This is because of the perceived notion of teams not caring about the score or outcome. While this argument is sometimes valid, it is not always the case. The NFL Preseason often times presents great opportunities to cash some bets! Here are some NFL Preseason Betting Tips:
New Coaches: A coach taking over a team in the first year is more likely to care about winning. This is because it’s highly likely (except for cases such as Indianapolis) the team he is taking over for underachieved last season. An emphasis on wins and losses early, one could argue, leads to instilling a winning attitude on a team that had lost confidence the year prior.
Player Rotations: This doesn’t really come into play until the second and third week, but sometimes you will be able to find a team that will play its starting units far more than the opponent does. This gives us a huge advantage, as the pointspread usually doesn’t account for the discrepancy of talent on the field.
QB Competitions: When two or more quarterbacks are competing for a starting job, more often than not the coach will allow each QB to play with the starting unit. This then not only falls into the last category of starting units playing longer, but also means there won’t be a significant drop off in talent between the starting and relieving quarterback, and will also result in more passing plays.
Winless Teams: Finally, no team wants to end the NFL Preseason winless. When teams start out 0-2 or 0-3, it’s likely the players will care more about a victory than the previous weeks.
The NFL Regular Season is different from the Preseason, but there are opportunities to find some decent wagers. Know what to look for, and you’ll do great!
