The New York Football Giants are in desperate need of a win in order to keep their playoff hopes alive. After losing last week to the Philadelphia Eagles, New York doesn’t have much of a chance of winning the division at 7-6 overall. However, they are still very much alive in the playoff hunt but a loss on Monday night would make it extremely difficult to clinch a wild card berth. Washington on the other hand will be looking to play the role of the spoiler as they stand at 4-9 straight up this season. The Redskins demolished the Oakland Raiders and have been playing inspired football of late, covering their last five games. The Redskins will have to come up with a plan to keep the Giants off balance on offense if they want to win this game.

Over the last three games, the Washington Redskins have been much more effective throwing the ball than running. This is mostly due to the fact that their top two running backs, Clinton Portis and Ladell Betts are on injured reserve. In fact, they are averaging more than 261 yards per game over their last three contests. That bodes well for Washington as the New York secondary has been getting torched in their last three games, surrendering an average of more than 300 yards passing per game. To make things worse for the Giants’ secondary, starting corner Corey Webster is not likely to play and their other starting corner, Aaron Ross is listed as questionable. Jason Campbell has not had a great year but he has been competent. He will be the key to this game. If Campbell can make plays down the field, the Redskins have a shot at keeping up with the high powered offense of the Giants and could even win this game outright.
