The Arizona Cardinals have a commanding three game lead in the NFC West Division standings over the San Francisco 49ers. Arizona is 8-4 straight up and against the spread. San Francisco, meanwhile, is 5-7 SU but has been a profitable team to bet on this year as they are 7-3-2 ATS. San Francisco won the first meeting between these two teams by a score of 20-16 as 5.5 point underdogs. The Cardinals are coming off a huge win over the Minnesota Vikings last week and will be looking to build off that win on their way to the playoffs. Arizona is 5-1 straight up and against the spread on the road this season. However, the 49ers have also produced profits for their backers on their home turf as they are 4-2 SU and ATS at home. Oddsmakers installed Arizona as a 1.5 point favorite but significant public action has come in on the Cardinals which forced the spread to jump a full two points. Nearly 86% of the betting public is on the Cardinals minus the points.
Kurt Warner is playing great football right now for the Arizona Cardinals and he will look to exploit a suspect San Francisco secondary on Monday Night. Arizona is ranked 6th in the NFL in passing yards per game as they average nearly 267 yards per game. Warner has arguably the best wide receiver tandem in all of football in Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin. Fitzgerald is an absolute stud and is capable of making big plays all over the field. Boldin is extremely talented as well as he has great size, speed, and is really starting to play well in recent weeks. Despite drafting Chris “Beanie” Wells in the first round, the Arizona ground game has continued to struggle throughout the year. San Francisco is only allowing 95 yards rushing per game so it may be tough for the Cardinals to get much going on the ground. Expect Kurt Warner to throw and throw often in this ball game to his two stud wide receivers.
Yards have been hard to come by for the San Francisco 49ers as they rank 27th in the league in total yards per game. They also are only averaging 20.4 points per game which ranks them 18th in the NFL. However, just like the 49ers, the Cardinals secondary is the weak link of the defense. They rank 31st in passing yards per game giving up more than 258 yards per game. Alex Smith has played decent after taking over for the injured for the injured Shaun Hill. Smith has thrown 13 touchdown passes and 7 interceptions. In order for San Francisco to win this game, he will have to play well and utilize his top receiver Vernon Davis and rookie Michael Crabtree. Frank Gore is another huge key to this game. If Gore can get things going on the ground, it will open up the passing game down the field for Smith and keep the Arizona defense off balance. The San Francisco offense is going to have to find ways to put points on the board to keep up with the potent Arizona Cardinals if they want to have a chance at winning this ball game.
