NBA: Top Five Under Teams
by Lenny Del Genio

Well, the NBA All Star Break has come and gone and by now hopefully you’ve read all three previous editions of our “Mid-Season Reviews.” If not, you can do so by clicking here. In our final NBA Basketball betting article, we will discuss the top five Under teams in the league. These are the teams you should look to go “Under” with when making NBA picks.

As a reminder, our NBA “totals system” is still red hot, producing 11 consecutive 10* Winners as well as a 20-point 25* Eastern Conference Total of the Year winner. You can purchase winning NBA Picks from former linesmaker Lenny Del Genio every day at the Vegas Experts Guaranteed Picks Page.

Here are the top five “Under” teams in NBA betting. All records are accurate through Thursday, February 18th:

1. New Jersey Nets (32-21-1) – The worst team in the NBA also showed up on our mid-season list of worst ATS records and because of their 90 points per game scoring average, the Nets also qualify as the team that has gone Under more than any other team in the league. The average total score in Nets games is just 191.1, which is second worst in the league, trailing only Charlotte. The interesting thing is the Bobcats are the number one “Over” team league. The difference is that the average Over/Under line for New Jersey is 194.1 compared to 189.4 for Charlotte. They will give effort in the second half in an attempt to avoid the worst record in NBA history.

2. Washington (30-20-1) – Considering the fire sale that just took place in the Nation’s Capital over the last week, consider the Wizards season over and done. Antawn Jamison, Caron Butler and Brendan Haywood were all dealt and Gilbert Arenas has been lost for the year due to suspension. Look for the remaining players to simply play out the string. The average Over/Under line for Washington games this season is 200.5, but you can look for that number to drop significantly after the trades, meaning less value with this team.

3. Boston (30-22) – Anyone who watched the Celtics game against the Lakers Thursday night knows two things. This team cannot hold large second half leads and they struggle to score when the second unit is in the game. They scored 34 total points in the second half and still won! That means Boston is still strong on the defensive end, so expect more Under tickets to cash. As of press, they’ve gone Under the total in five straight and seven of their last eight games. They have the fourth lowest average Over/Under line in the league at 191.9.

4. Chicago (30-22-1) – Most of the damage done to Over bettors took place early in the season when the Bulls scored 100 or more points just THREE times in their first 30 games. The average Over/Under line for Chicago games this year is 196, which puts them in the lower third of the league.

5. Orlando (31-24) – This was a surprising entrant on the list. The average Over/Under line for Magic games is 198.5, which is actually pretty close to the league average of 200.1. They were pretty close to the break even point before going on a 5-0 Under run from the end of January through the beginning of February.
