NBA: Top Five Over Teams

Our NBA “Totals System” was simply fantastic in the final weeks leading up to the NBA All-Star Break, going 16-5 L21 Overall and cashing EIGHT straight 10* releases as well as our 25* Eastern Conference Total of the Year on the Over in Bucks vs. Knicks! Sometimes betting NBA totals is as easy as knowing how a team has performed against the Over/Under line. Here are the top five “Over” teams in the NBA:
1. Charlotte Bobcats 30-20-1 Over – This is simply stunning when you consider the fact that Charlotte is the second lowest scoring team in the NBA at 95.1 points per game. However, the oddsmakers are aware of that fact as well and no team consistently faces a lower Over/Under line than does the Bobcats (189.4). Don’t think that you can take advantage of the occasional high total either as Charlotte is 4-0 Over with a total of 200 or higher with an average final score of 220 points!
2. Utah Jazz 30-21 Over – Close behind the Bobcats for the top spot is Utah and this is all due to recent developments, namely the insertion of Andrei Kirilenko into the starting lineup. Prior to a dud performance against the Lakers in the first half finale, Utah had scored in triple digits 11 straight times, going Over eight times. Not only were they scoring 100+ points, but they were averaging 111.18 PPG during that stretch. Will the oddsmakers catch up?
3. Toronto Raptors – 30-21-1 Over – This is a “traditional” team to find on this list. We say that because they average 104.6 points per game, an Eastern Conference best, while also allowing 104.9 PPG, an Eastern Conference worst. In other words, the oddsmakers can’t make the totals high enough “North of the Border.” Only four Western Conference teams, the Warriors, Suns, Nuggets and Kings, have a higher average Over/Under line.
4. Memphis Grizzlies 29-21-1 Over – What a great move it was to dump Allen Iverson, who was clearly not “The Answer” for Memphis. Right around the New Year, the team went on a streak of seven straight Overs, which is how they made this list. Note that they are 21-1 Over when both scoring and allowing 98 points or more in a game this season.
5. Atlanta Hawks 27-21-3 Over – The Hawks are a much better team at home than on the road, which is why they find themselves in this group. They have gone 17-9 Over at Phillips Arena as opposed to 12-12 against the total in 24 road games. They have also gone 15-6 Over this year if they went Under in their previous game.
