NBA Preseason Preview: Utah at Phoenix
by John Ryan

Utah is off to a solid 2-0 preseason start and already the Jazz fans can see the marked improvement in several players. Most noticeable is Center Kyrylo Fesenko, who has slimmed down to 285 pounds and has lost 25 pounds attributed to hard core off season workouts. It has paid off as his speed and agility is vastly better than last season and as a result he scored 18 with seven rebounds in a 109-100 win over the Portland Trailblazers Monday night.

The Jazz are spreading the ball around and many players are contributing. CJ Miles and Al Jefferson scored 14 points each and Deron Williams added 15 points on 3-for-4 shooting and four assists. Utah Jazz fans can expect more of the same tonight and during the regular season. They will be a team to be reckoned with in the West.

Phoenix is going to be the same style team that has marked it’s character for ages: score more than opponent. However, they are not playing near their regular season levels, but did improve against Dallas. Utah will use their regular season rotation and the Suns will have difficulty defending against Utah’s strength and size. Fesenko will have another solid night.

The Suns have always struggled rebounding the ball and the first few games are more of that fact. They rank 27th in total rebounding. Granted this is just a few games, but certainly highlights their biggest weakness. Utah is an excellent rebounding team and that is one of the dominant reasons they may win this game tonight.
