BYU vs TCU Preview
by Eddie Keen

BYU takes on TCU in this Friday night matchup and the Books have opened up TCU as 11 point favorites and the line has already moved to -13. This is a neutral site game being played at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington. Both teams are even against the spread; BYU is 4-4 ATS this season and TCU is 3-3-1 ATS. BYU has played one more game then TCU with a 6-2 straight up record while TCU is 5-2. Looking back, both teams are coming off back to back wins both straight up and against the spread but BYU has won their last five games in a row and is coming into this matchup with a little more momentum then the Horned Frogs. Which team will get on the positive side at the betting window with an ATS win Friday night?

In last season’s meeting, TCU won 31-3 in Forth Worth, but failed to cover the spread as they were huge 30 point home favorites. Could this be another matchup where they are laying too many points? Seems like both teams are going to come to play in this primetime matchup and BYU could be in a good situation for a back door cover!

TCU has a very strong offense, averaging about 44 points per game and they also do well on the road averaging about 37 points per game. BYU does not average as many points, at 27 points per game and it is slightly lower in road games (23 points per game). Their defense has been pretty strong on the road this season giving up just 19 points per game. If they have a strong defensive night they have a good chance to stay within the 13 points and rising spread.

TCU had a shut-out win over New Mexico 69-0, but were favored by 44.5 points against a terrible team. BYU is also coming off a strong offensive performance; they destroyed Idaho State 56-3 as 43 point favorites. With both teams coming off strong offensive outputs, look for this total to keep rising. The books opened up the total at 54.5 points and it has slowly risen to 56 and is still rising. This could show some value with playing against the line move and taking the under. BYU is 8-1 UNDER when playing as an underdog over the last two seasons while TCU is 10-2 UNDER in all October matchups over the last three seasons.
