A-10 Tournament Quarterfinals Preview
by Eddie Keen

Dayton and Xavier face off to start the Atlantic 10 Quarter Finals for Friday, March 11th at 12:00 EST. Xavier is favored by seven points in this matchup and will be looking for a big win which is expected over what is an inconsistent Dayton squad. Dayton is shooting 40.7% from the field this season and is coming off a very strong offensive performance, hitting 53.1% of their shots in a 78-50 win over UMass where they were only a 2.5-point favorite. Xavier has won both games against Dayton this season but only covered one at the betting window. Xavier has tons of momentum moving into this matchup as they are coming off nine straight wins and they have covered seven of their last eight games against the spread. Dayton on the other hand has been struggling only winning one of their last four games. Will Xavier get the blowout win over Dayton or will the Flyers get the back door cover?

St. Josephs vs. Duquesne is the late afternoon tip off for the A-10 Quarter Finals at 2:30 EST. St. Josephs is coming off a matchup against George Washington where they were a 7.5 point dog, and made the oddsmakers look bad as they got the 71-59 outright win. They had an excellent offensive performance shooting over 50% from the field. On the other side of the ledger, Duquesne is coming off five straight ATS losses. These teams faced off at the beginning of January and Duquesne got the win and also got the cover at the betting window as they were favored by just five points on the road. Will St. Josephs use that big outright win over George Washington as some momentum moving into this game or will Duquesne finally get out of the terrible ATS slump and have another easy win?

At 6:30 EST, La Salle takes on Temple who is favored by ten points. Both teams are coming into this matchup with some momentum. La Salle has momentum against the spread and Temple has it straight up. La Salle is coming off four straight ATS wins while Temple has won 11 of their last 12 games SU. Temple got the eight point win over La Salle just last week, but it was much closer at the beginning of February, when Temple only won by four points and failed to cover the ten points they were laying. La Salle is 12-2 ATS when coming off a win by three points or less to a conference opponent, but they have only cashed 6 of 21 games that they were revenging a road loss to the opponent. We all know Temple is going to get the win in this matchup, but is ten points too many?

Rhode Island faces off against Richmond to end Friday’s A-10 Conference Quarterfinals at 9:00 EST. Richmond is being favored by six points and they are carrying some serious momentum coming into this matchup. They have won their last four games both straight up and against the spread. Richmond is in a revenge situation since Rhode Island got a huge outright win over them in the middle of January, 78-74 as nine point road dogs. Rhode Island is only 4-15 ATS when coming off a win over a conference opponent while Richmond is 18-9 ATS in that same situation. Will Richmond come to play tonight, or will Rhode Island get another outright win?
