Emphatically, Rangers Emerge as Contender on MLB Betting Lines

Though they didn’t dominate the headlines throughout the regular season, the Texas Rangers are making sure to show up in a big way this postseason, whether by simply wrestling an early ALCS lead out of the Detroit Tigers, or doing so in dramatic fashion like Nelson Cruz did with his walk-off grand slam to end Game 2.

Now, considering their impressive October, the Rangers sit pretty on the MLB odds board with 11/10 odds of winning the World Series. The Tigers sit at 12/1.

That the Rangers franchise has at least some bettor support should come as no surprise, they did win the American League pennant in 2010 before being sent packing by the eventual Series champion San Francisco Giants.

That feat serves as both a blessing and a curse for Ron Washington and company as they battle up and down the baseball betting lines in 2011. On one hand they return a core of players with winning experience, but on the other, anything less than a championship is a disappointment.

Maybe that they hold a 3-1 lead over the Tigers isn’t such a big deal after all?

Perhaps while we were all salivating over Detroit’s Justin Verlander and Doug Fister, or Robinson Cano and Adrian Gonzalez in New York and Boston, this was their plan all along; to catch the rest of Major League baseball off guard and then steal what they came so close to last fall.

The question is, now that the league is on to them, can they pull it off?
